Most new parents spend hours trying to find the perfect name for their new arrival, but what are the most popular names chosen in the UK in 2011.
The number one spot goes to Jack for the boys and Sophie for the girls.
Jack has been a favourite for the last couple of years but Sophie is a new arrival at the top spot.
Jack is followed by Sean, Daniel, Conor, James, Ryan, Adam, Michael ,Alex and in 10th position Luke.
Sophie is followed by Ava, Emma, Sarah, Grace, Emily, Katie, Lucy, Aoife and finally Chloe in 10th place.
Nearly all the top ten names are good strong traditional names but be careful and think what your name will be like when your child is in their 40s or in a job interview it may be cute when he or she is two but might not be into adult hood.
It’s great to be different but not silly and you would hate for your child to get bullied at school as children do not like being different from their peer group.
It’s also a good idea to think about and perhaps write it down to see how your last name fits with your chosen first and second names as it will be the most important gift that you ill give your child that will last a lifetime and don’t forget It will be the first thing that they have to learn to write so not too long might be a good idea!
